To All Pre-College Educational Opportunity Programs
This is your chance to participate in an exciting national project and receive recognition for your important work in the field of college access. The Pell Institute and the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) encourage you to list your program information on the National Outreach Program Database, a catalogue of college outreach programs being developed jointly by the Pathways to College Network and the National College Access Network (NCAN) in conjunction with the College Board, The Education Resources Institute (TERI), and COE.
The database is an online version of the Outreach Program Handbook, published by the College Board in 2001 in collaboration with TERI and COE. This database lists pre-college outreach programs for low-income students, first generation, underrepresented minorities, and students with disabilities. The database can be searched by users, updated by program directors, and utilized to study college access issues. When fully populated with programs from across the U.S., the database will be an excellent resource for students, parents, teachers, counselors, college admissions and financial aid officers, and researchers looking for specific programs in particular geographic areas. It also offers researchers and policymakers the opportunity to obtain information on programs nationwide.
The goal is to have approximately 1,500 programs by fall 2005. To search the database and list your program on the database, visit http://www.pathwaystocollege.net/outreach/search.cfm. You can enter your information one of two ways:
