![]() 26th Annual SFARN Conference Indianapolis, Indiana June 11-13, 2009 Registration for the 26th Annual Student Financial Aid Research Network (SFARN) conference is open. This year's conference will be held in Indianapolis, Thursday June 11 through Saturday June 13th. The preliminary agenda is being finalized, but the conference will once again start on Thursday morning at 9:00am and conclude at Noon on Saturday. The registration form can be accessed on line at https://fs3.formsite.com/coecoecoecoe/form384490814/secure_index.html. The registration fee is $350, which includes all conference materials and 5 meals ( 3 contl breakfasts, 2 lunches and a reception). After June 1, the registration fee will be $400. The conference will be held at the very centrally located Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, just one block from the State House. We have worked with the Hyatt to get a very affordable room rate of $129 per night (plus taxes) for single and doubles. You can make your reservation by calling 1-800-233-1234; our room block is under SFARN Conference / COE. The room block will close on May 20th, 2009. The agenda will be posted as soon as it is finalized, but if you have questions in the interim, please contact Colleen O'Brien at sfarn.pell@pellinstitute.org or ctob68@yahoo.com. We look forward to seeing you in Indianapolis this June! ************************************************************ Never been to Indianapolis, or haven't been here in awhile? Here are some of the highlights of Circle City: * the Downtown area where the meeting will be held is host to a wide variety of attractions, including the White River State Park, which is home to the Eiteljorg Museum of Native American Art, the Indiana State Museum, and the headquarters of the NCAA and the newly reopened Hall of Champions Museum. The Canal Walk alongside the Central Canal gives you access to these and other sites in town like the USS Indianapolis Memorial. There are over 200 restaurants in walking distance within the Downtown area. Just a few miles north of downtown is the Indianapolis Museum of Art, which includes Robert Indiana's Love sculpture among many other fine pieces. * The new airport is a beautiful facility located about 15 minutes from downtown and accessible by share a ride service, taxi, or shuttle --sorry no public transportation. However, the airport is serviced by 12 airlines and there are about 200 daily departures. In addition, the city is accessible by 4 major interstates so Midwest attendees can even consider driving over to Indy for the conference. *Just a few blocks from the Hyatt Regency is Victory Field, called the best minor league ballpark and home to the Indianapolis Indians, the Triple A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. As luck would have it, the Indians will be in town throughout the meeting. * For other sports enthusiasts, the Fever (WNBA) play the LA Sparks while SFARN is in town at the Conseco Fieldhouse, which is an homage to the state's basketball / sports obsession; you can check out the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum, and there are several golf courses, including Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, a public course that has 4 holes inside the race course. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Send them to me at sfarn.pell@pellinstitute.org or ctob68@yahoo.com! Looking forward to hearing from you Colleen Colleen T. O'Brien SFARN Conference Coordinator |
